Dear Consumer Finance Working Group member,
We are pleased to invite you to join the next meeting of the Consumer Finance & Non-Banking Financial Institutions Working Group which will take place on Monday, 13th January, starting at 8:30AM.
At this meeting we will have the honour and pleasure to welcome Mr. Vincent Perrin, Senior Policy Adviser for China at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). He will focus his presentation on OECD’s macroeconomic outlook on consumption for China and how to engage China to adopt OECD tools.
According to OECD, China’s annual economic growth is likely to accelerate to 8.2 percent in 2014 from an expected 7.7 percent this year, driven by stronger domestic demand. Nevertheless, China still needs to quicken structural reforms, in particular financial liberalization, encouraging labour mobility and tax reform in favour of stronger domestic consumption, as economic expansion still relies heavily on investment. During this Working Group meeting members will be able to engage in a discussion with Mr. Perrin on the role of consumption in China’s economic rebalancing.
Dear Beijing Banking & Securities Working Group members,
Please notice that there will be the regular Banking & Securities Working Group meeting on Thursday, 16th January at 8:30am. On this occasion, the meeting will be on the implications of the VAT Reform on Financial Services. However the Consumer Finance Working Group would like to extend the invitation to the Working Group meeting with the OECD that will take place on Monday, 13th January at 8:30am.
Draft agenda:
1. OECD’s Macroeconomic Outlook on Consumption for China by Mr. Vincent Perrin, Senior Policy Adviser for China, OECD
