Dear Banking & Securities Working Group Member,
We are delighted to invite you to the Banking & Securities Working Group meeting to be held on Thursday, 20th February 2014, starting at 8:30am at the European Chamber’s Office in Beijing (please refer to the address above).
At this meeting we will have the honour and pleasure to welcome Mr. Jimmy Leung, Partner, China Banking & Capital Markets Leader, PWC. He will present the findings of PWC’s recently published report ‘Foreign Banks in China’ (full details of the report can be found here). Attendees will receive a complementary hard copy of the report.
The report points out that many foreign banks expect to “stay the course” on their China strategies while waiting for the benefits of reform and regulatory changes to become clearer. It also points out that while foreign banks do not have the scale of their principal domestic competitors, the report shows that foreign banks in China are considering expanding into new businesses, such as offering more services to SMEs. Other areas that interest them include winning mandates from SOEs that are restructuring and going global, offering rural banking services, pushing inland to follow manufacturing growth, and launching e-banking or other services.
Please register with Mr. Xavier-Lluis Sans Powell at xsanspowell@europeanchamber.com.cn, before COB Wednesday 19th February.
Tentative Agenda:
1. Presentation by Mr. Jimmy Leung, Partner, China Banking & Capital Markets Leader, PWC on ‘Foreign Banks in China’
