Dear Working Group Member,
Following the call for candidacy for the positions of Chair and Vice Chair, the PCR Working Group is happy to announce that the following people have put their names forward for the election, which will take place at the next Working Group meeting on Friday, 4th April 2014, 10-12h, at the European Chamber Shanghai and Beijing offices simultaneously via video-conference.
Chair Position:

Vice Chair Position:
· Mr. Thomas SHAO, Evonik
The PCR Working Group Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group. In order to register a vote for the elections, according to European Chamber practices, you must be present at the Working Group meeting.
In exceptional cases when a candidate is not able to physically attend the election a proxy from the candidate’s company may be appointed to attend the election, subject to Chamber’s prior approval. The proxy shall perform all duties otherwise required by the candidate.
At this meeting, two senior partners of KPMG will give a two-part presentation around the theme of ‘Current Policies and Chemical Industry’.
Mr. Peter Fung, Global Chair, KPMG Global China Practice, will present ‘The 3rd Plenum’s Impact on Industries’, and
Mr. Norbert Meyring, Chemical Sector head for China and Asia Pacific, will present ‘Chemical industry in China, current status and outlook’.

Dear Working Group member,
The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next PCR Working Group meeting. It will be held on Friday 4th April, 10-12h, at the European Chamber Beijing and Shanghai offices via videoconference facility.
At this meeting, two senior partners of KPMG will give a two-part presentation around the theme of ‘Current Policies and Chemical Industry’.
Mr. Peter Fung, Global Chair, KPMG Global China Practice, will present ‘The 3rd Plenum’s Impact on Industries’, and
Mr. Norbert Meyring, Chemical Sector head for China and Asia Pacific, will present ‘Chemical industry in China, current status and outlook’.
Additionally, we will hold 2014-2015 Chair elections. The PCR Chair and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, which includes a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chairs are a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Working Group. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential. The maximum duration of Chairmanship or Vice Chairmanship of a Group is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice Chair position if he/she is physically based in China and it is recommended that the member holds the position in the Chapter where he/she is physically based. Only Corporate members of the Chamber are eligible for Chair positions unless specific approval has been obtained from the Chamber’s Executive Committee. Both Corporate and Associate members are eligible to hold Vice Chair positions. For the PCR Working Group, it is possible to have at most one Chair and two Vice Chairs.
Should you be interested in putting your name forward for election, please, firstly, read the attached Working Group Chairs’ Code of Conduct and Roles and Responsibilities documents. To apply, please send a short biography and motivation letter, stating whether you intend to run for Chair or Vice Chair to Dr. Xin-Ying Ren at xyren@europeanchamber.com.cn by Wednesday, 26 March 2014, 4pm.

In accordance with European Chamber internal guidelines, another email will be sent to the Working Group prior to the election, with the biographies and motivation letters of all candidates attached. Voting for the election, one vote per company, must be conducted in person at the Working Group meeting after each candidate has had the opportunity to give a short speech on why they would like to run for election. The duration of the term for both Chairs and Vice Chairs is one year. All elected Chairpersons must sign the attached Code of Conduct, following election.
As always, we welcome your suggestions for possible agenda topics and speakers for this and future meetings.

Mr. Peter Fung
Peter Fung is the Global Chair of KPMG Global China Practice and is based in Beijing . In the past two decades in China, he has been in many roles within KPMG, including in-charges of large accounts, such as PetroChina, Sinopec and CITIC Pacific, regional head of audits and regional head of markets.

Mr. Norbert Meyring
Norbert Meyring is partner of KPMG China, based in the Shanghai office. Norbert is partner-in-charge of multinational clients with KPMG Shanghai. Further he is KPMG’s sector head for Life Sciences and Chemicals in China .
Norbert joined KPMG Shanghai in 2001 after a 6 years secondment to KPMG New York. He started his career in the KPMG Frankfurt office.
In the past few years he has achieved the following:
-Being regional or China lead partner for a number of major international groups, giving his extensive experience of business, accounting and regulatory issues multinational companies face in Asia Pacific.
Gaining extensive experience providing audit and advisory services to key multinational clients with operations in China and the Asia region.
-Norbert is a frequent contributor and speaker at industry conferences and thought leadership publications.
-He is part of KPMG’s global pharmaceutical and chemical leadership team representing the Asia region in the respective steering groups.
-Norbert is a certified tax advisor and CPA in Germany and the US
