The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is delighted to invite you to the 3rd Agri-Business Forum, organized by China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).
Embracing Transformation: Agricultural Modernization and New Breakthroughs in Eco-Agriculture
As the fastest growing country in the world since 1980 and its rapid transformation into a global economic power, China has had a dynamic journey. Ascending into the World Trade Organization in 2001 and achieving many of the Millennium Development Goals before the 2015 target, China is making incredible progress. Although experiencing rapid growth in every sector, agriculture still lags behind the others. China’s agricultural productivity remains low and relies primarily on small-scale farm efforts for the majority of the national crop production. The 18th CPC Central Committee recently called for a new era of agriculture reforms, heralding new development opportunities for agricultural practices and agri-business. However, China’s agriculture development has faced and will continue to face many challenges if the situation remains unchanged.
Agricultural development is of fundamental importance, not only for the achievement of sustainable development, but also for broad-based economic growth. Advancement will mean focusing on food safety, food security, sustainability and education. In order to raise agricultural modernization to the next level, China will need to rely, not only on modern scientific and technological advances, but also on the close collaboration between senior business and industry leaders, government policy makers and think-tank researchers. Developing rural areas, modern technology, innovative solutions and ingenious collaborations are necessary for China to promote sustainable, eco-friendly development as well as battle high pollution levels and outdated practices.
Gathering a new generation of global leaders, the 2014 China International Agribusiness Forum will focus on transformation. Driving pragmatism, collaboration and innovation, this event aims to usher in a new wave of agri-business trail blazing. It will also create the foundation for business, industry and academic leaders to unite, brainstorm, and implement new strategies and practices for China’s agricultural future.
This event will also be hosting the first annual China Accelerator Event, a catalyst, designed to connect the right business partners and prospects. The China Accelerator is uniquely focused on agri-business and serves as a platform to facilitate strategic partnerships between global companies and entrepreneurs. Combining the West and the East, this event will coordinate one-on-one meetings between compatible parties to find solutions to market accessibility and methods to combine skills, technology and resources to reinvigorate the agri-business industry.
