With the increasing regulatory focus on chemical safety in consumer products, much effort is needed to keep on top of all the latest changes. This seminar will help you stay updated on the latest developments in two of the key EU regulations: REACH and RoHS.
The REACH presentation will provide an overview on the updates happened during 2013/14 and a glimpse of what is to come. The focus will be on those aspects of REACH that affect “article” products such as clothing and footwear, electrical and electronic products, toys and furniture.
The RoHS presentation will mainly focus on the activities that are underway to amend for the first time the list of substances restricted under the RoHS Directive.
A brief introduction will also be given to the EU Regulation on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). When some of the substances that were previously regulated under REACH were transferred to POPs in recent years, this lesser known EU regulation became one of the regulations that also govern chemical safety in consumer products. Examples from RAPEX (the EU rapid alert system for non-food dangerous products) will be given to highlight the importance of this regulation.
