The European Chamber Beijing Chapter is delighted to invite you to a seminar on the Sino-German Double Taxation Agreement.
Finally, the new China-Germany tax treaty has been signed after long years of waiting. Replacing the old treaty from 1985, it aligns the tax treatment of cross-border transactions and relationships with the latest trends in international economic policy. The new treaty contains changes for both corporate and individual taxpayers and offers opportunities but also poses risks and challenges.
In this seminar, Mr. Alexander Prautzsch, Tax director of PwC China, will present the main changes in the treaty and their background. He also will highlight key risks and opportunities by using representative case studies and examples. Furthermore he will compare the German treaty with other treaties that China recently signed or enacted with other European countries. Ms. Tanja Fuchs, Senior Manager of Human Capital - Global Mobility team with E&Y, will provide an overview of the changes which will especially affect individual taxpayers, such as seconded employees to China, as soon as the provisions of the new treaty are applicable.
Issues to be addressed include: What impact will the new treaty have on German companies doing business in China? What does it mean for their investment structure? And what will change for individuals working in China?

Mr. Alexander Prautzsch
Alexander Prautzsch is a Tax Director at PwC China in the Shanghai office and is a member of the European Business Group.
Alexander is committed to advising European, particularly German-speaking clients, on their investments in China. He is focused on Chinese, German and international tax matters for corporate clients as well as their employees. Typical projects of Alexander include investment advisory, restructurings, profit repatriation planning, employee assignments, cost cross-charges and supply chain planning projects.
Alexander is a German certified tax advisor (Steuerberater) and has lived and worked in Shanghai since October 2005. Prior to working in China, Alexander worked for three years in the international tax department in Frankfurt. Alexander is a German native speaker and fluent in English and Mandarin.
Ms. Tanja Fucks
Tanja Fuchs is currently assigned to EY, Beijing, assisting German and international clients in China with all aspects of Global Mobility services, including China tax and social security compliance, policy advisory and optimization of assignment structures, as well as HR advisory with special regards to the requirements of the constantly evolving Chinese market. In 2009 Tanja Fuchs was assigned to the US working on a on-site client project and assisted the client executives regarding taxas and social security as well. She has offered tax policy advisory/HR process management services, e.g. for international assignments and is specialiest for implementing HR processes.
