The European Chamber is delighted to announce the next edition of its flagship macroeconomic seminar Insight China with the topic "Is the "Golden Age" over?", with the renowned speakers Dr. Edward Tse, CEO, Gao Feng Advisory Company, and Vincent Perrin, former OECD senior policy adviser for China.
According to the results of the Business Confidence Survey of the European Chamber, business conditions in China are getting tougher and a new sober reality is developing. This is exemplified by an entrenched sense of pessimism within the European business community, as persistent market challenges show little sign of abating. In turn, many firms are setting more modest expectations for revenue and profitability growth and are scaling back their investment plans for the Chinese marketplace. However, implementation of meaningful reforms–in particular increased market access–would likely prompt a reversal of this trend. Is the “Golden age” for European companies in China over?
