The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to a morning seminar on zero discharge of hazardous chemicals.
Greenpeace launched the Detox campaign in 2011 to expose direct links between global clothing brands, their suppliers and toxic water pollution around the world, challenging major fashion houses to eliminate all releases of hazardous chemicals from their supply chains and products. Since its launch, the campaign has secured public commitment from a number of international fashion brands and retailers, which created the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals Group to help lead the industry towards the elimination of hazardous chemicals by 2020. The objective, for these companies, is to develop and execute concrete elimination plans and strategies for the most hazardous substances and provide greater transparency around the chemicals that their suppliers currently release into our shared waterways.
At the seminar, Bureau Veritas will share their sustainability solutions for the textile industry and their achievements on zero discharge of hazardous chemicals in the past two years. It will also share its findings on the chemical discharge status for the textile industry in China and South Asia. H&M will provide an overview of its plans and strategies to underscore its commitment to and vision for eliminating hazardous chemicals from its value chain.
