The Chinese central government has entered into a rigorous phase of “walking the talk” since the Third Plenum, signified by the ongoing regulatory and legislative steps towards institutional, administrative and opening-up reforms, as well as straightening out the government-market relationship. In addition, NDRC has recently kicked off the draft process of the 13th Five Year Plan, during which the European Chamber expects to play an active role in terms of early stage consultation.
As such top-line developments will impact a large number of business sectors, the European Chamber has recognized the importance of establishing a cross industry platform where government affairs professionals could exchange over issues of horizontal impact such as the implementation of the Decision, 13th Five Year Plan, etc. Under this forum, the members would be invited to review and respond to the national economic reform progress on a regular basis, supplementary to the existing advocacy work carried out by individual Working Groups. As a GA specialist within your firm, you are strongly encouraged to become a part of this team and have a say on its actions forward.
During this first GA Roundtable, we will review the Chamber’s existing efforts on this regard and map out the overall reform items most relevant to European companies operating in China, and discuss these in relation to the Executive Summary of the Chamber’s 2014/15 Position Paper.
