Covington & Burling LLP has recently completed a major study for European Commission's Directorate General for Trade, describing a broad range of Chinese legal measures and administrative practices that restrain foreign investment in China. Preparation of the study involved a review of over 260,000 central and local government laws and regulations, and extensive research into Chinese administrative practices. The study constitutes the most comprehensive overview of foreign investment environment in China which has been prepared to date.
Timothy Stratford, Managing Partner in Covington & Burling's Beijing office, will summarize the main findings of the study. Following his presentation, a panel comprised of Mr. Stratford and Mr. Francisco Pérez-Cañado, Head of the Trade Section at the EU-Delegation to China, will discuss the implications of the study for European stakeholders.
