Five years after China's entry into the WTO, what changes will the country make in its foreign investment policy? For those transnational corporations (TNCs) marching towards China, in such a market that is experiencing a transformation in its economic growth, what contributions could they make to its sustainable development? How could they play an active role in its economy, society and environment? How can we achieve a win-win result for TNCs and China?
To answer these questions, Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC) of Ministry of Commerce of PRC, along with Beijing NewCentury Academy on Transnational Corporations, will hold a summit named ransnational Corporations China Forum 2007: TNCs and Sustainable Development of China?on 6th February, 2007. The issues include, on the context of the sustainable development of China, the impact of TNCs on China economy, society and environment; newest developing trend; the cooperation of TNCs and Chinese enterprises; and the globalization of Chinese TNCs, etc. Leaders from related ministries and commissions, famous scholars, senior executives from the Chinese and foreign corporations, and related officials from local authorities are to be invited to the Summit, giving keynote speeches and participating in various discussion panels.
The purpose of the forum is to enable TNCs to get better involved with and play an active role in the sustainable development of China by considering them as a positive factor of sustainable development, instead of a negative one to be criticized and accused.
