What is it?
C2C’s Working Effectively Across Cultures Program (WEACP) is a 1-day workshop for everyone working in today’s global world. This workshop will allow you to be more effective in your cross-cultural collaboration by focusing on the following objectives:
- Define culture and your own cultural identity
- Explore your own cultural identity and develop an awareness on how culture influences the way we work and what we expect from others.
- Discover your current attitude to differences (based on the IDI®)
- Learn about different working styles, with a special focus on relationship building, trust, communication, decision making, team work, etc.
- Learn about and apply a specific behavioral model to navigate cross-cultural situations in a competent way. The 3-D Model is a tool to effectively address cross-cultural situations and build bridges that are both inclusive and cross-culturally competent.
Who is it for?
This workshop series is designed for any personnel and managers working in a multicultural environment who would like to improve their capability to effectively communicate and contribute in a cross-cultural project and collaboration.
Modules
Understanding culture and its impact on work
This module helps participants recognize the complex cultural challenges facing employees working in today’s global world. This section explores different types of culture, programing of the mind, institutions of influence, archetypes and stereotypes, and changing cultural values. At the end of the module, participants will be able to understand the factors that shape someone’s culture identity.
It is ALL ABOUT ME
This module looks into one’s own culture and reflect on the question “What is typical of my culture and why?” Through a series of short exercises and discussions, participants will investigate and explore their cultural identities, as well as the roots of “cultural” influences. These influences will range from childhood upbringing, key events in their lives, and people who influenced them. At the end of the module, participants will be able to identify their core values, the positive and negative aspects of these values, and the thinking and behavior flowing from them.
It is ALL ABOUT THEM
This module helps participants create awareness of unconscious assumptions that they and their “cross-cultural” colleagues make which may affect your interactions. Using the Cultural Dimensions, they discover archetypical behavior across the globe that is based on these cultural dimensions. They will examine the impact of cultural differences on activities such as decision-making, giving feedback, information sharing, leading, meetings, and more. At the end of the module, participants will be able to improve their ability to manage their daily work situations and build better relationship and team work.
It is ALL ABOUT US
This module enables participants torecognise the process by which cultural competence develops over time. In this module, participants will be introduced to the 3-D Model which helps navigate effectively through cross-cultural communication and collaboration. Also, by participating in role play, they will be more aware of their cultural lens and assumptions. At the end of the module, the participants will be able to address cross-cultural situations and build bridges that are inclusive and cross-culturally competent.
