The logistic industry is confronted with several issues that create chokepoints for custom-clearance and supply chain performances, such as: (1) having to interface with multiple and uncoordinated agencies; (2) encountering gaps between regulatory policies and their implementations; (3) lacking supply chain data transparency.
Despite the launching of various trade facilitation initiatives and “single window” programs, these challenges still remain at large, especially with the growing threats of terrorism, food safety issues, counterfeits and other illicit trade practices.
In response to market’s call for optimized custom-clearance, easier compliance mechanisms and more visibility into the supply chain, China has proposed, during last year’s APEC meeting, the Model E-Port project and the APMEN initiative, which aims at addressing these challenges by setting up a public data hub and “one-stop-shop” holistic ICT public service platform to enable connectivity and transparency.
We are pleased to invite you to join us for a working group meeting to discuss this innovative E-Port approach from 9 to11am, on Thursday, November 6th, at the conference room of the EU chamber.
Key topics include:
- Background and context of APMEN and Model E-Port Project
- A comparison between conventional “single-window” practices and E-Port platform
- Business opportunities for trade facilitation and improvement of supply chain performances through Shanghai Model E-Port Project as an interface with Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone (SPFTZ) and China’s regional customs integration initiative.
Who should attend?
The working group meeting is targeted to Customs Affairs and Supply Chain Management professionals who have to deal with customs and supply chain issues, in particular freight transactions, supply chain security, customs clearance and trade facilitation. Attendees are expected to achieve the following goals after the session:
- Apprehend E-Port’s difference from conventional “Single Window” practices
- Understand the visions and goals of APMEN and Model E-Port Project, especially how they relate to companies in the long run
- Acquire a big picture of available opportunities for the private sector to explore through the APMEN initiative
