The first half of the meeting will focus on market-based solutions to address environmental issues in China. We will be joined in Beijing by Calvin Xu, Program Manager of CHUEE (China Utility-Based Energy Efficiency Finance Program) from the International Finance Corporation, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. This Program is expected to have a significant developmental impact in promoting energy efficiency, reducing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and expanding lending to SMEs in China. IFC's program brings together three key players: utility companies, suppliers of energy efficiency equipment and commercial banks.
According to our articles of association we will hold the Chair elections before the Chamber's AGM in April. Over the past year the PCOG Working Group has been chaired by Henry Wang in Beijing and Johnny Kwan as Vice-Chair in Shanghai. The Chairpersons play key roles in driving the development of the Working Group, promote their activities and communicate targeted messages on behalf of industry to senior policy makers in China and Europe. Should you wish to nominate yourself or another member of the Shanghai Working Group to take up the Vice Chair role please get in touch with Maurizio Andreano on mandreano@euccc.com.cn.
