The European Chamber of Commerce in China is delighted to invite you to this Exclusive Dialogue with Dr. Yukon Huang, senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment in Washington D.C. and former World Bank’s Country Director for China, on 23rd January in Beijing.
No country generates such divergent views about its economy. Why do Europeans perceive China to be the world’s leading economic power but the rest of the world sees it differently? Some popular perceptions are that China is facing an imminent financial crisis, its unbalanced growth model is a vulnerability, its SOEs are less productive than private firms, it is rapidly upgrading its technological capacity, its cities are too big and crowded, etc. What if these assumptions are wrong and if so the policy prescriptions off the mark?
