Discussion points
The 25th meeting of the Human Resources Working Group was led by the Chairman of the Group, Mr. Hans Christian Marxen, HR Director of BASF-YPC. The main topic of discussion was the future agenda of the Group. The second part of the agenda included electing a Chairman and Vice-Chairman. As the number of participants this time was smaller than usual, the Group decided to postpone the elections to the next meeting in April.
1. Future agenda of the Working Group – roundtable discussion
The first point of discussion was the dates of future meetings of the Working Group until the end of 2007. The dates are provisional and in case of change the participants will be informed in advance.

Before the meeting the Business Manager conducted an email survey among HR Managers to collect ideas about topics that they would like to discuss within the framework of the HR Working Group. The summary of the survey and the topics were put up for discussion before the attendees. As a result the Group decided on the following topics for future meetings. The exact sequence will be agreed on later.
1. Staffing, recruitment – effective channels for recruiting, effectiveness of online recruiting tools; different philosophies of recruiting;
2. Training and career development
3. Retirement, demotion and termination
4. Expats working in foreign companies in China - safety; - how to balance their needs with the needs of the Chinese employees
5. Safety, security in the workplace (at the workplace; on the way to/ from work; on business trips etc.)
6. Labour Law
7. Company culture
The next meeting will be held on 25th April (Wednesday). Hewitt will present the results of a survey they conducted among foreign companies in the Nanjing area on Total Compensation Measurement
