In today’s business world everyone has to communicate well. Good communication skills are a prime indicator of self-leadership and basic to a successful leadership career.
This one-day activity-based training is intended to help you develop your communication style and enhance your influencing skills to become a more effective communicator and more influential leader.
Communication is more than the art of transferring your ideas, your information and emotions into the minds of others. It is about connecting with others, inspiring others, and, last but not least, communication is about dealing with very different people in a great variety of often challenging situations.
To do this effectively, we must know ourselves well, understand how we come across with others, and learn to adapt our style of communication to the needs and expectations of the people we wish to influence.
At the core of this one-day program are an assessment tool for identifying one’s preferred communication styles, detailed descriptions of the 16 different styles and guidelines for developing one’s own style. In the second half of this training day participants put their learning into practice during two challenging role plays and reflect upon their communication behaviour and ways to enhance their influence with others in critical situations.

The Trainer
Dr. Laurenz Awater, General Manager and corporate trainer. Laurenz is an organizational development and intercultural expert whose China experience dates back to 1985 when he was foreign student at Beijing University. Laurenz is fluent in Chinese and works as management trainer and consultant. His Ph.D. thesis on ‘China’s Political Economic History from 1949 to 1997’ is a standard reference book at German universities and received mentioning on ‘Wikipedia’ and on books on G8 summit policy, China’s WTO-integration and EU-Foreign Policy. When working in German industry Laurenz was involved in large infrastructure and construction projects in China. In 2003 he founded the Shanghai INNOVA Management Institute, a training company known for organizing high-level executive workshops for expat managers and for its leadership and management training programs. Since then the Shanghai INNOVA Management Institute has built up a client base of more than 200 MNCs, mainly larger and mid-sized concerns from Western Europe.
