European Union Chamber of Commerce in China
Joint SH & BJ Legal & Competition Working Group Meeting
Friday, 22nd May 2015, 14:00-15:00
European Chamber Shanghai & Beijing
Dear Working Group Member,
The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next Joint Legal & Competition working group meeting. It will be held on Friday, 22nd May, 14:00-15:00, at both, the European Chamber Shanghai and the European Chamber Beijing.
On 7 April 2015, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce published a regulation for the “prohibition of conduct eliminating or restricting competition by abusing intellectual property rights.” This regulation aims to protect fair market competition and encourage innovation within the rules set out by the Anti-Monopoly Law of the People’s Republic of China. A courtesy translation by Hogan Lovells is attached to this email. Now is the time to assess how this new antitrust regulation affects the Chinese business environment, and what measures European businesses in China need to take in order to ensure compliance.
Our speaker, Mr. Adrian Emch, Partner at Hogan Lovells, is an expert in Chinese and EU competition law issues, including this latest regulation (see attached article). During the presentation, he will provide unique insights into the rationale behind the regulation, decode the finer details, and assess the impact this document will have in the long-term for European businesses and the legal landscape in China.
Tentative Agenda
- 14:00-14:05 Opening by Legal & Competition Working Group Chair.
- 14:05-14:30 Presentation by Mr. Adrian Emch, Partner at Hogan Lovells
