Dear Working Group member,
The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next Carbon Market Working Group (WG) meeting. It will be held on Tuesday, 16 June, 10am-12pm at the European Chamber Beijing office.
At this meeting, Mr. Cyril Cassisa, Climate Expert, French Embassy in Beijing, will give a presentation on the upcoming United Nations climate summit in Paris in December 2015 (COP21). International negotiations on climate change are a long process. The Paris summit will be an important milestone for our society to fight climate change. All countries are willing to obtain a global binding agreement in Paris. However, on the way to this new agreement many key issues still remain to be specified.
Mr. Cyril Cassisa is a Visiting Scholar at the Institute of Energy, Environment and Economy of the Tsinghua university and a climate expert at the French Embassy in Beijing. He is also an Associated expert to the Asia Centre and China Carbon Forum Think-tanks. Moreover, he is a member of the high-level Sino-French expert group on climate change and participates in United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) meetings within the French Delegation. His current research activities focus on carbon market and renewable energy policies in China and EU.
Tentative Agenda:
- 10:00am-11:00am: Paris Climate Summit 2015: A Milestone for Climate Negotiations, Mr. Cyril Cassisa, Climate Expert, French Embassy in Beijing
- 11am-11:30am: Update on the Chamber’s UNFCCC observer status + brainstorm on potential side event at the COP21 in Paris
- 11:30am-12:00pm: Status of the Carbon Market Position Paper + discussion on upcoming WG activities
As always, we welcome Working Group members’ suggestions for possible agenda topics and speakers for this and future Working Group meetings.
