Dear IPR Working Group Members,
The next IPR Working Group meeting is scheduled on Tuesday 30th June in Shanghai. Next to holding the Vice-Chair Election for Mr. John Li, Head Patents at Novartis, we will be discussing the latest legal developments amongst which the patent draft law amendments. Furthermore, the Working Group Chairs will be providing an update and explanation to members on the final version of this year’s IPR Position Paper, a final edit of which will be shared before the meeting. We would also like to strongly encourage you to use this opportunity to contribute topics for future working group meetings and seminars. The IPR Working Group is driven by its members and working group meetings as well as events will only be as valuable as the collective input provided.

Vice Chair Election:
During our last IPR Working Group Meeting in Shanghai on 20th April we had the pleasure of receiving an unexpected candidacy for the second --yet vacant-- Vice Chair position to the Working Group from Mr. John Li, Head Patents at Novartis China. Due to the fact that all (Vice) Chair candidacies should be announced in advance to the Chair elections as per EUCCC guidelines, he was at the time not formally appointed. Nevertheless, since the position was at the time still vacant we had accepted Mr. Li’s candidacy for the position and will be running a second election round at this working group meeting.
We strongly encourage as many Working Group members as possible to attend this meeting of the IPR Working Group and have their say in the upcoming activities of the Working Group for the remainder of the year.
