In China, given that design falls in one of the three types of patents protected by Patent Law, plus has no substantial examination and the examination time is the shortest, for most European SMEs, design patent is or should still be a preferable tool to protect their product designs. However, in fact design patent application is not simple as we supposed. The China IPR SME Helpdesk will invited a design patent examiner from the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) to give detailed introduction and practical tips on how to use design patent and how to correctly apply for a design patent. The event is conducted in Chinese.
外观设计专利作为中国专利法保护的三种专利类型之一，加之申请手续简便审查周期短，已经或应该成为广大欧洲中小企业在中国保护其产品与设计的重要手段。然而，在实际操作中很多企业还是反馈了这样或那样的问题。服务处为此特别邀请国家知识产权局专利局外观设计审查部的官员为企业代表讲授外观设计保护、申请等方面的知识，并现场解答企业的问题与困惑。此次活动以中文进行。

Mrs. Wang Meifang
Mrs. Wang Meifang currently serves as Director of Examination Division III, Design Examination Department, State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), supervising routine work of design examiners, performing on-job training for examiners and managing several SIPO’s policy research projects. Since joining SIPO in 1997, she has been on the front line of design examination, reexamination and invalidation for 18 years.

外观设计审查部审查三处处长。
1997年毕业于武汉理工大学，主修工业设计专业，获硕士学位。1997年进入专利局外观设计审查部工作,曾在复审委员会外观申诉处挂职任副处长。
曾参与专利法及其实施细则和审查指南的修改工作，主持包括《中美日欧韩外观设计比较研究》、《中外外观设计授权标准若干问题比较研究》在内的多项课题研究，参与撰写《代理人考前培训教材》，多次为代理人考前培训班和上岗培训班授课。
曾被派往世界知识产权组织、奥地利专利局、日本特许厅和意大利专利局接受知识产权培训。曾多次代表中国参加国际会议并发言，包括在WIPO召开的国际外观设计分类专家会、SCT会议、美国Fordham大学“中国知识产权新环境”会议、中日韩外观设计研讨会等。曾带团赴OHIM开展专家交流。
