“Each generation will reap what the former generation has sown.” So states a very wise and ancient Chinese proverb.
While all countries in the world face challenges in dealing with environmental problems stemming from climate change, China's challenges in adapting to climate change are particularly acute. China is a nation struggling to prevent even more pollution and natural disasters that stem, in part, from 30 years of unchecked economic growth.
The European Chamber is delighted to have Jean-Marc Jancovici, President of The Shift Project, one of the most widely acknowledged climate and energy specialists in France, share his insights ahead of the Paris Climate conference. While addressing climate issues, his in-depth experience in the private and public sectors gave him a sound basis to create a practical framework to bring together private and corporate interests.
This event intends to show the relevance of low-carbon and highly energy-efficient technologies, as well as innovative green financial products, in the Chinese context and globally. Also the representative of the EU Delegation in China will make a presentation on the Environmental Goods Agreement, which intends to remove barriers to trade in environmental goods that are crucial for climate change mitigation.
In addition, there will be industry speakers from green building, transportation and green finance to give supporting insights. Finally there will be a panel debate with all the speakers followed by Q&A for EUCCC members and media representatives.
