As part of the EU Green Deal, a proposal for a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) has been introduced to prevent the risk of carbon leakage. China exports more manufactured goods and services to the EU than any other country; therefore the CBAM proposal and the amendments adopted by the European Parliament on 22nd June 2022 have raised concern among Chinese stakeholders.
