A catastrophic combustion and explosion accident occurred in Tianjiayi Chemical Co., Xiangshui County on 21 March 2019, which was triggered by the continuous heat accumulation during long-term illegal storage of nitrification waste. The accident devastated the industrial park, causing property loss amounts to 1.98 billion yuan, over eight hundred casualties with 78 death toll. The responsible corporation group was plunged into huge amount of civil compensation, furthermore, ex-Chief Representative was sentenced 15 years in prison and current general manager 12 years in prison in first instance.
The accident demonstrates the serious consequence caused by management loophole and neglect in ESH compliance, the implied liability of which will influence not only company’s continuous operation, but each individual executive that is inevitably involved.
On top of introducing most updated ESH legal requirements, this lecture will focus on Senior Executive’s liabilities in terms of practical viewpoint.
