The Legal and Competition Working Group (WG) is delighted to invite you to the first working group meeting of 2021, which will take place on 3rd March, from 10:00 to 12:00. During this kick-off meeting, we will review the activities of the WG in 2020, and members are strongly encouraged to join the discussion and provide input on the WG’s 2021 advocacy and activity priorities, and Position Paper outline. With this occasion, the 2021 Legal and Competition Working Group Chair election will be held.
Due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19, there is a chance that the meeting has to be conducted online. We will keep monitoring the situation and confirm you the meeting format beforehand. If we need to organize the meeting and voting online, an instruction will be sent to all attendees.

Chair/Vice Chair Roles and Responsibilities
The Chairperson and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, including a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chairs are a senior industry representative with relevant expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Working Group. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential. Before applying for the position of Chair or Vice-chair, we recommend that you obtain approval from your company. The maximum duration of Chairperson or Vice Chairperson of a Group is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice Chair positions if he/she is physically based in China.
The Chairs and Vice-Chairs should represent different sectors and issues; therefore, we encourage employees across industries to apply for elections. If you are interested in the positions of Chair or Vice Chair, please read the attached Starter Kit for Chairs and submit the following information to dwu@europeanchamber.com.cn by COB, 20th February:
- Resume
- Motivation letter including:
i) how the candidate’s background and experience match the role
ii) the goals the candidate has for the WG for the following 12 months
iii) how the candidate intends to utilise or share resources for the benefit of the WG
iv) whether the candidate holds a position in another Chamber or industry association.
