The European Chamber Carbon Market Working Group, together with the MNC Forum for Carbon Neutrality (MNC50), will jointly organise a meeting Understanding the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) offline in Beijing on Sunday 23rd June, 3-5pm. During this meeting, the CEO of SBTi will share the latest developments of the SBTi globally and in China, new net-zero standards for enterprises, Scope 3 and supply chain emissions reduction, and the use of carbon offset credits, among other topics.
The SBTi is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. It develops standards, tools and guidance which allow companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and reach net-zero by 2050 at latest. By the end of 2023 over 4,000 companies and financial institutions were leading the transition to a net-zero economy by setting emissions reduction targets and having them validated by the SBTi.
