“Games Wide Open” – we eagerly anticipate the Paris Olympics 2024. The global nature of the Olympics encourages sports participation in China and beyond, through corporate sponsorship, community initiatives, and extensive media coverage, promoting a healthier, more active generation. Our speaker series will explore two critical themes focused on China: a) transforming youth sports participation and b) maximising sports sponsorship effectiveness.
We aim to inspire young athletes and ensure sponsorships are impactful, measurable, and aligned with broader social and health objectives.
Agenda (more speakers to be confirmed):
16:00-16:05, Opening Remarks, by Mr Robin Trebbe, Vice Chair of the European Chamber Sports Forum
16:05-16:55, Panel Discussion One: Transforming Youth Sports Participation and Community Involvement in China
Engaging in sports from a young age promotes physical fitness, mental well-being, social connections, and a sense of community. By encouraging youth to engage in sports, we lay the foundation for healthier lifestyles continuing into adulthood. How do we create a culture of health and fitness, where being active and making healthy choices are celebrated?
The purpose of the first speaker series is to inspire the next generation of young athletes.
1. Motivating and Engaging Young People to Participate in Sports:
- Raising awareness through traditional and social media.
- Utilising technology and innovation to make sports more accessible and appealing.
- Ensuring health information is consistent and comprehensive.
2. Measuring the Impacts of Initiatives:
- Ensuring inclusivity and accessibility in sports initiatives.
- Involving the community in sports projects.
- Key trends and future directions in youth sports development.
Ultimately, the first topic aims to create a sustainable and supportive environment for young athletes in China, enhancing the reach and impact of sports programs, and fostering a culture of health and fitness.

However, challenges include evolving consumer preferences, media fragmentation, and measuring impacts. How can brands create impactful and meaningful sponsorship campaigns?
The second speaker series aims to explore strategies for overcoming these challenges and maximising the effectiveness of sports sponsorships in China.
1. Engaging Audiences and Stakeholders, Communicating Impact:
- Strategies for engaging audiences and stakeholders.
- Mastering digital marketing strategies, leveraging social media platforms, and utilising big data analytics.
2. Building Sustainable Sponsorship Initiatives:
- Balancing commercial interests with promoting social equity.
- Collaborating with local governments, NGOs, and community organisations.
Ultimately, the second topic aims to explore how brands can ensure their sports sponsorship efforts are impactful, measurable, and aligned with broader social and health objectives, driving engagement and ROI.
This speaker series unites industry leaders, policymakers, and community advocates to discuss how sponsors can contribute to the holistic health of diverse populations. Together, we can explore strategies, share best practices, and create a more inclusive and equitable future.
