Meeting with Certification and Accreditation Administration of China (CNCA) on Development and Administration of Laboratories and Inspection Bodies in China
Chamber's Quality and Safety Sub-working Group and Fashion and Leather Desk jointly visited the Department of Laboratories and Inspection Bodies of Certification and Accreditation Administration of China (CNCA) to discuss the administration and regulatory system for Laboratories and Inspection Bodies in China.

On 14th November 2017, the AQSIQ together with CNCA issued the Measures for the Administration of Certification Agencies. The Chamber was involved in the process of drafting through submitting consolidated comments enclosed to AQSIQ in July 2017 and the dialogue with Director General Xu Xinjian of AQSIQ’s Department of Legislation and Regulations in September. However, the regulation itself failed to reflect the comments submitted by the Chamber and the comments agreed by the AQSIQ, in which case, the Chamber submitted a formal lobby letter to remind AQSIQ to include our comments and recommendations into the implementing rules or interpretation.
Comments on CNIS' Draft of National Standard <Indicators for Green City>
In November, the China National Insitute of Standardization (CNIS) issued the National Standard <Indicators for Green City> for public consultation.
The European Chamber's Construction Working Group, Environment Working Group, Standardisation and Conformity Assessment Working Group, European Wood Desk, Quality and Safety Services Working Group, on behalf of member companies, submitted their consolidated comments to CNIS.
Meeting with President Hu Zhijian of Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development of MOST on Innovation and Sustainable Development of Xiong An New Area
The European Chamber conducted the exclusive dialogue with Dr. Hu Zhijian, President of Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development of the Ministry of Science and Technology, who is in charge of the planning of Xiong An’s innovation and development demonstration area. A panel discussion with contribution from information and communication technology, intelligent manufacturing, energy, low carbon, construction and environment sectors, and a short Q&A session were followed after Dr. Hu’s keynote speech.

On 26 October 2017, the Chamber sent a delegation of 22 members under the leadership of Vice President Massimo Bagnasco, to the 2017 China-EU Conference on Sustainable Urbanisation, initiated by the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design (CAUPD), with the support from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).

On 27th September, 2017, the State Council approved the Comprehensive Plan on Beijing City (2016 – 2035), which will influence the investment strategies and relocation of various FIEs, particularly for the industries with production, manufacturing and construction. To better understand this plan and the impact thereof, the chamber will invite Mr. Shen Chi, Deputy Director General, China Centre of Urban Development of NDRC (沈迟先生，发改委中国城市和小城镇改革发展中心副主任) to interpret the plan and provide insights on the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Integration, followed by the roundtable discussion with our members.
Meeting with Director General Xu Xinjian of AQSIQ on Administration of Certification Agencies and Presentation on 2017/2018 Position Paper
Director General Xu Xinjian conducted a dialogue with Chamber's delegation from the Quality and Safety Services Sub- working Group on administration of certification agencies in China. The National Chair of Quality and Safety Services Sub-working Group, Ms. Liu Huifang presented the 2017/2018 Position Paper to DG Xu and his colleagues.
