On the morning of 26th November 2019, European Chamber President Jörg Wuttke brought a delegation of European Chamber Advisory Council and Food for Special Medical Purposes Advisory Committee members to meet with Mr. Wang Shouwen, vice minister of Commerce and deputy China International Trade Representative. Representatives from MOFCOM’s Foreign Investment Administration, Treaty and Law and European Affairs departments attended the meeting as well.

On 25th November, European Chamber President Jörg Wuttke led a delegation of the Chamber’s Advisory Council members on a visit to the Development Research Centre of the State Council (DRC), for an exclusive meeting with Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President (Minister) Ma Jiantang. Director generals from the DRC’s International Cooperation section, Research Department of Foreign Economic Relations, and research institutes of Market Economy, Enterprise Research and Finance were also in attendance.

The High-level International Conference on Doing Business Practice and Reforms was held in the National Convention Centre in Beijing on 22nd and 23rd November. The conference was co-hosted by the Ministry of Finance, the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality and the World Bank. Under the theme ‘Improving the Business Environment for A More Dynamic Economy of China and The World’, the conference aimed to build a platform for exchanging experiences and jointly promoting business environment reform.
Vice presidents (VP) of the European Chamber, Mr Jens Eskelund and Mr Massimo Bagnasco, as well as representatives of 10 member companies also attended the conference. VP Eskelund delivered a speech at both the Friday afternoon session and the Saturday morning forum on 23rd November.

On 21st November 2019, Jet Chang, chair of the Environment Working Group (EWG) led a delegation from the European Chamber to meet with Mr. Sebastien Paquot, the new Head of the Section Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, European Union Delegation to China. On 13th November, European Chamber Vice President (VP) Charlotte Roule led a delegation to the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) to meet with its Vice Chair (VC) and CEO Zhang Xiaoqiang. The Chamber delegation included representatives from the Energy, Environment and Banking and Securities working groups, Quality and Safety Services Sub-working Group, Paediatric Nutrition Desk and Government Affairs Forum.

On Nov. 7th, European Chamber Finance and Taxation Working Group representatives paid a visit to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and received by Director YUAN Feng of the Foreign Capital & Overseas Investment Department.
