Since early this year, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) has been leading a nation-wide campaign on Unionization, setting up target for all foreign-funded companies to establish trade unions by 2009. The newly promulgated Labor Contract Law stipulates the right of adhesion for employees and carves a bigger role for trade unions. Questions rise: Is setting-up of trade union mandatory in compliance with the Law? What is the function of trade union? Which impact can be expected on the employment relationship? How can employers handle labor issues in cooperation with trade unions?
Byron Du from Roedl & Partner is an experienced lawyer specialized in labor issues. As the keynote speaker for this HR Roundtable Discussion, he will analyze the trade-union-related legislation, share the case study information, discuss with members and provide pertinent advices in response to the concerns of HR managers.
