Factory Tour + Working Group Meeting + 2022 South China IPR WG Chair Elections
Dear Working Group Member,
The European Chamber South China Chapter is pleased to invite you to the next joint Working Group meeting combined with IPR Working Group Chair Elections as well as Factory Tour. It will be held on Wednesday, 17 August, 10:30am-16:00pm, at the ANDRITZ Foshan.
At this meeting, Ms. Xiaoli Luo, Compliance Officer & Regional General Counsel of Andritz China, will share the IP issues around manufacturing industry, especially technical secrets. We also invite Daniela Shaw, Principal Associate of IP Team of the dispute resolution group of Gowling WLG, to share her inside opinion from legal perspective and share some hot IP topics for discussion. Don’t hesitate to share with us any areas of particular interest/concern, or open questions you would like to be discussed during the session.

Call for IPR Chair Elections
During this meeting we will hold 2022 chair elections. Only IPR WG members who had their registration confirmed for this meeting will have the right to vote, with one vote per company. In accordance with European Chamber internal guidelines, another email will be sent to the Working Group prior to the election, with the biographies and motivation letters of all candidates attached. Voting for the election, one vote per company, must be conducted in person at the Working Group meeting after each candidate has had the opportunity to give a short speech on why they would like to run for election. We encourage as many of our members as possible to attend to have their say in the leadership and representation of the Working Group in the year ahead. Working Group members interested in running for this year’s Chair elections, should take notice of the following:
Roles and Responsibilities
The Chairperson and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the development of the WG. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chairs are a senior representative from an IPR with relevant expertise who has the time and willingness to support the WG. Previous participation in the WG is essential. Before applying for the position of Chair or Vice-chair, we recommend that you obtain approval from your company.
The maximum duration of Chairperson or Vice Chairperson of a WG is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice Chair positions if he/she is physically based in South China.
The IPR WG is going to elect one Chairperson and one Vice-Chairperson.
If you are interested in the positions of Chair or Vice Chair, please read the attached Starter Kit for Chairs and submit the following information to gz.ga@euccc.com.cn before Thursday, 11 August, 6pm:
- Short resume/CV
- Motivation letter on why you wish to be elected Chair or Vice Chair, including:

- how your background and experience match the role
- the goals you have for the HR Forum over the following 12 months
- how you intend to utilise or share professional resources for the benefit of the Forum
