The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is delighted to invite you to an exclusive briefing seminar looking at the impact of China’s New Social Insurance Law on the 14th June 2011 at 4 PM, at the Hilton Beijing Hotel. map
The new PRC Social Insurance Law will come into effect on 1st July 2011. The law was passed in October last year and implementation guidelines were issued for comments in May, but many questions - including the impact on overall staffing costs and the treatment of expatriates in the scheme - remain unanswered.
To help us understand the implications of the new law, give the benefit of their extensive experience, and answer your questions, we are delighted to present five leading experts in various aspects of social insurance.
Mr. William Birmingham, Pension and Work Injuries; Mr. Grayson Clarke, Fund Management and Social Contributions and Mr. Jean-Charles Dehaye, Human Resources, will share their experience of various social insurance schemes and explain how they think the new Chinese policies will impact you, as an employee and employer.
The above speakers are long-term experts of the European-China Social Security (EUCSS) project, in charge to support the dissemination of the best practice to implement the new Social Insurance Law
Finally, Mr. Jimmy Lu, Director of Health & Benefit from Aon Hewitt will talk about his experience dealing with the existing social insurance law of behalf of his clients and highlight potential challenges that may be faced by organizations going forward.

William Birmingham, Pensions and Work Injuries Expert (bio)
William Birmingham works as pension and work injury insurance specialist within the International Technical Assistance Team of the EU-China Social Security Reform Co-operation Project (EUCSS) after previously working in China as a short-term expert on an Asian Development Bank project on pension reform.
Grayson Clarke, Fund Management and Contribution Expert(bio)
Grayson Clarke works as the Fund Management and Contribution Expert at the EUCSS and is currently working on editing a volume of papers on the financial control of social insurance in China and selected EU countries. He has delivered training on fund investment, the implications of introducing a DRG system for medical insurance, moving from cash to accrual accounting and raising the pooling level. He has also worked on education finance issues for DFID and the Ministry of Education in South West China.
Jean Charles Dehaye, Human Resources Expert (bio)
Jean-Charles Dehaye is the General Director of the provincial pension fund in France (North east) detached for the EUCSS project as Human Resources expert and currently in charge to develop the policy for services for elderly in China. He will be in charge for elderly policy in France after the current project with EUCSS.
Jimmy Lu, Director of Pension Consulting, Aon Hewitt (bio)
Jimmy Lu is a director of Pension Consulting in Aon Hewitt pension practice based in Beijing Office, providing a variety of consulting services, including Pension/Annuity plan design, Employee Benefits design and implementation.
Jimmy has worked in Aon Hewitt 5 years. Major clients in the field of retirement consulting include Bank of China, Baosteel, Neusoft, Beijing Capital Airport, China Grand, Apple, Boeing, GE, Total, Metso, Visa, Cannon, Conti, SWIFT, Savills and ThyssenKrupp etc.
