ICT Forum on Innovation & IP Protection (IIPP), organized by China Academy of Telecommunication Research of MIIT (CATR) since 2013, has been widely recognized as flagship IP event in Chinese ICT field. This was demonstrated by two influential conferences under the auspices of ICT Forum IIPP last year: IP Seminar on Patent Risks and Development Trend of Smart Terminals in May and Antitrust Policy on Standard Patent Abuse in November. This year’s forum will continue this success with a focus on the Innovation, Protection & Competition –Challenges & Opportunities of Mobile Internet Development in China.
As global mobile Internet business booms, intellectual property issues such as acquisition of patents and patent litigation have become increasingly prominent. International giants like Google, Apple, and Microsoft have successfully developed sophisticated legal protection with this regard, and generate far-reaching impact on global internet ecosystem. Despite of emerging of relatively complete industry chain, China's mobile Internet industry is still fragile and inexperienced regarding IP protection. Knowing global legislation rules is undoubtedly urgently needed to help Chinese internet corporations to participate into international cooperation and competition.
Meanwhile, Chinese solutions are especially required in dealing with issues generated by distinctiveness of cultural, legal and political context. Global insight and Chinese solutions become focus of Chinese mobile internet industry in 2014. Therefore, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Telecommunications Research Institute would like to welcome you to engage into this great discussion with other entrepreneurs, lawyers, judges, government officials and researchers coming from U.S., Europe and China.
ICT Forum 2014 will mainly address the following issues: the IP protection modes of innovation, SEP licensing policy, IP risks of smartphone, patent portfolio strategy, IP acquisition strategy and commercialization, IP and competition policy, and copyright.
