2. Presentation from Irene Rodgers from Inter Cultural Management Associates about Developing and Keeping Talent
Ms. Irene Rodgers from Inter Cultural Management Associates gave a presentation about how to develop and keep talent in a company. She was also talking about what she and her colleagues experienced when they helped companies to reduce their turnover on employees.
3. Round Table Discussion
In the roundtable discussion all participants of the working group told what was already implemented in their company and discussed about certain issues or weak points of their strategies.
To summarize the group came to the following conclusions:
- The working group stressed out the importance that the employee has to like the job before any program to keep talent can have an effect. That means that the process of keeping talent must come from both, the employer and the employee.
- The staff must understand the whole process of which they are a part of to understand that their job is important for the company.
- The working group also said that it is important that the process of keeping talent comes also from the higher management level. This level has to be aware of the Human Resources policies of the company.
- The management and leaders should pay more attention to their staff to show that they appreciate what the employee is doing. Moreover the leader should show that they are interested in the person itself.
But also incentives and salary can help to keep the staff from leaving the company. The participants of the working group stressed out that salary should not be the only method to make people stay but can also help.
