LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is a facilitated communication, strategy and thinking tool. Drawing on educational, organisational, and psychological theories the method enables peer learning - uncovering all the expertise around the table - with all team members being fully motivated, involved, focused and heedful of one another’s insights.

In This highly engaging group activity participants will build and share their response to questions posed by a certified facilitator. We will be tackling a subject relevant to all C level executives, Business owners, senior Learning and Development managers; Talent Development and retention. 

The business landscape and the way people work is changing rapidly. Leveraging the expertise in the group we will uncover current and predicted trends in talent development, and then use divergent thinking techniques to develop solutions to anticipated problems finding ways to take advantage of upcoming opportunities.

This workshop will bring together business and thought leaders to uncover approaching trends that will impact foreign business in Shanghai, look at how these various trends are linked, and explore how we can prepare for them. We will build, share and refine solutions to issues and in doing so discover some surprising insights along the way.

 

APLLICATIONS

Using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method,  teams can approach issues in a new way, giving their thoughts and ideas physical form that are easily shared, understood and reflected upon. Participants uncover new knowledge based on the needs of the individual, team and organisation.

Typically we work with established teams that represent a good cross-section of the business unit or department being addressed. A workshop can range from two hours to two days or more depending on needs of the team and is often based on one of the following themes:

For teams in the early stages of the development life cycle or looking to re-imagine what they're all about. We help reveal capabilities and priorities of individuals, to define their purpose in relation to others and the team as a whole. This knowledge helps uncover guiding principles to frame future strategic behaviour and allow teams to deal with the unexpected when it comes along.

 

PROJECT KICK OFF

For teams looking to optimise performance from the get-go, we help to unlock all the potential in the room and achieve consensus on the desired direction and goal. Each team member finds clarity, purpose and ownership to help drive the team towards success.

 

AGILE RETROSPECTIVES

For a team to step back from the day-to-day challenges of product delivery and benefit from continuous improvement by asking "What are we doing well? What can we do better?".  We will help the team set the right direction, get all of the issues on the table, gather insights from the team and make decisions. They will then be self-organized and more productive in applying the changes.

 

DESIGN THINKING

For teams looking for new perspectives, we work with them to give physical form to conceptual ideas and challenge conventional approaches to creativity and innovation. The method is also extremely effective for requirements elicitation and analysis.

For any team dealing with change. We help to model a highly adaptive and complex system - often a simulation of the organisation - and analyze how it reacts to change. The team can play with various scenarios and have a clearer picture of the impacts to help decide upon the best course of action.

• Participants get a brief history of the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology and some of the learning theories behind it

 

9:10 to 9:15            Rules and Etiquette

• Ground rules are established and participants are prepared for the method to have the maximum possible impact

 

9:15 to 10:00          Skills Building

• The group get used to working with the bricks and communicating via three dimensional metaphors, as well as becoming acquainted with the ‘core process’

 

10:00 to 10:20        Application Technique 1 - Current Issues

• Participants are challenged to build a model: What is a key issue now facing talent development and retention? (Particularly within the context of your industry)

 

10:20 to 11:20        Share

• Participants, in turn, tell the ‘story’ of their model to the group. Facilitator interjects and poses supplementary questions*

 

11:20 to 12:20         Application Technique 1 - Future Issues

• Participants now build and share a key issue facing talent development in future - this may be a completely new issue or a development of an existing model

 

12:20 to 13:30         Lunch

 

13:30 to 14:15         Application Technique 2 - Creating a Landscape

• These ‘future issue’ models are placed on the table to create a landscape - a shared future business environment. We will then explore the connections, and the nature of the connections between these issues.

 

14:15 to 15:15          Identifying Opportunities

• Looking at the landscape on the table, we will look for and build opportunities to take advantage of this future scenario. These ‘opportunity models’ will be placed in relation to the the landscape and will be ‘interrogated’ by the group

 

15:15 to 16: 45        Optional Activity

• Depending on numbers and the time taken up by the day’s activities, we now have the option to explore the core, aspirational and external identities of the individuals around the table.

 

16:45 to 17:05          Wrap up

• Highlight elements for further consideration, debrief, wrap up, Q&A
